Does a degree determine if a person is more or less compatible in the world of dating?
Last night, I had a conversation with a family member about a prominent , successful bachelor in the Atlanta and I wouldn’t mind dating if opportunity permits! Their response was “you don’t have degree you so you don’t have a chance with him” So my follow up question was “ so I don’t have a degree so I can’t date someone that does?” their reply “there are plenty of educated women after him so don’t have a shot and you should probably set you sights on someone like Brian Nichols”
This conversation really hurt me, yes, I do not have a degree but I’m 7 classes away from having my degree in 2009 and yes I've been in school long enough to have a Ph. D. Still it is very unlikely my the last few courses will make me more intelligent than I am, only more knowledgeable about my major which is Business. A degree is significant in the work force because it gives you leverage for money, or just getting a job! However, I do not consider myself out of someone’s league or beneath someone, I’m interested in dating simply because I don’t have degree. The "majority" follow the model of get a degree and a good paying job. If those same people had the same income and do what the really wanted as a career there would not be a second thought.
In America most people measure success by money and accolades. If you take a person with Ph. D and works as professor making 50k with a Honda Civic you think a moderate success level. However a millionaire with no degree and owned several well known companies you would be more impressed with the financial status that than a degree.
I definitely haven't reached the height of success I want but life is a marathon not a sprint. Everyone has their own definition of success for their lives. When it comes dating love is compatible and whatever else is on your soul mate check list. I certainly do not think anyone should settle and I would not let others tell you what you what best you.
I always pray for constant motivation because when you step out into entrepreneurship there is a battle with complacency especially when juggling a corporate gig. Last night I got what I asked for motivation, even though it was negative I will positively work harder.

Unfortunately, that's how a large amount of people think. The majority of my family is like that. But the funny thing is a lot of the folks who think like that are either single (as in never finding that one person) or divorced. Why? Because they were looking for the wrong things in their mate. Degrees are good, money and notoriety are good, but when it comes to a relationship we should be looking at whether we are compatible spiritualy, emotionaly and directionaly. When I say directionaly, I mean that you don't have to be at the same station in life, but you should most definitely be moving in the same direction.
That's my 1 cent....not worth 2 ;-)
